Siliguri, 21st November: Police seized a Bolero and arrested 3 dacoits in Siliguri even before the robbery could be executed. The arrested have been identified as Toton Ahmed, Taripul Islam and Lukman Hussain, residents of Siliguri’s Shaktigarh, Teen Batti More and Fulbari area.
According to the information, the police launched an operation based on a tip-off regarding the miscreants who had gathered in the Chobabhita area of Fulbari intending to commit dacoity. The police officers in plain clothes campaigned in the said area and arrested the 3 crooks.
According to police sources, the dacoits were dressed in clothes resembling the military uniform. Several sharp weapons were also recovered from them. However, a few robbers managed to escape from the scene.
Upon interrogation, the dacoits revealed that they had gathered in the area to mug vehicles passing along the national highway. On Saturday, the trio was produced in the Jalpaiguri court. Meanwhile, the police are looking for the absconding dacoits.
