Siliguri Municipal Corporation has completely failed to provide basic services to common people: Amit Jain

Siliguri, 27th July: Leader of the opposition party of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Amit Jain, took a jibe at the current board alleging that it has failed to provide basic services to the common people.


Talking to reporters today, Amit Jain stated that the Siliguri Municipal Corporation is not providing widow allowance, birth certificate and death certificate properly, due to which the general public is facing great inconvenience. He further alleged that the temporary sanitation workers are not getting paid. Furthermore, the outbreak of dengue is increasing in the city due to the lack of promptness of the current SMC board.  

Jain further claimed that the SMC is facing a financial crunch, which is affecting the common people gravely. He warned of staging a protest if the SMC does not solve the issues immediately. 


Countering the accusations, Deputy Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Ranjan Sarkar, called the opposition’s opinions baseless. He further added that the birth and death certificate services were interrupted due to technical glitches. He assured to fix the issue soon.
