Siliguri Municipal Corporation celebrates Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti 

Siliguri 08th May: The 161 st birth anniversary of the icon of Indian culture and Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm in Baghajatin Park of Siliguri on Monday.
Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Commissioner Sonam Wangdi Bhutia, Chairman Pratul Chakraborty, Mayor-Council along with the Wards Councilors paid tribute and offered garlands to Rabindranath Thakur’s statue, and several organizations were also present in the program. 
Apart from this Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, and BJP activists, supporters joined the function and offered their respect.
On the occassion, Deputy Mayor Rajan Sarkar stated that Rabindranath Tagore’s anniversary is celebrated each year with conviviality and joyousness and this year too, the day was observed by performing Rabindra Sangeet and owing to the legendary poet, philosopher, musician, writer, and educationist.
