Siliguri, 23rd May: An important administrative meeting was held at the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) office in the presence of district administration officials and BJP councillors of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh was also present at the meeting.
According to information, detailed discussions were held regarding various ongoing construction works in the city, illegal buildings and issues related to construction materials.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shankar Ghosh said strict steps would be taken against illegal constructions in the city. He stated that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is already active on the issue and necessary instructions have been given to the administration.
The MLA further said that while the government has conducted drives against illegal crushers, efforts are also being made to ensure that the supply of stone and sand required for construction of houses by common people is not disrupted.
He added that areas from where sand and stones can legally be extracted are being identified and supply through legal channels would begin soon.
