Siliguri, 09th July: Keeping in view the rise in crime of late, the city’s Siliguri Metropolitan Police organized a programe at Dr. I. B. Thapa N. Vidyalaya School to aware students about child marriage, cyber crime and safe internet use.
In the camp, cyber team of SMP, Women Police Station and a few voluntary organizations spoke to the children regarding the risks associated with the use of the internet and how to protect themselves from such crimes.The children were also made aware of the disadvantages of child marriage. The students were advised to minimize the use of social media and avoid befriending unknown people.
The students, on the other hand, said that the discussions made in the camp will help them deal with several issues in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a member of Kanchanjungha Uddhar Kendra, a Silguri-based NGO, commended the initiative taken by the Siliguri Metropolitan Police. Likewise, principal of the school said that the girl students got to learn a lot in the camp and hoped that the police would organize such camps continuously.
