Siliguri, 05th August: After gaining recognition for safeguarding the safety of women, Siliguri Metropolitan Police launched the second squad of Winners. Yesterday, the team was flagged off by the Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma signaling them with a green flag. Presently around 64 women are a part of the Winners squad members. Out of which 20 East Zone and 20 West Zone will be monitored. Meanwhile, 24 winners’ team members will be kept in reserve.
On this occasion, Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma said that the Winners team was formed ten months ago. The team gained quite popularity and appreciation from the people because of their work. State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also praised the team for their work. Adding to this he said that the CM also directed to prepare Winners squad in every district and Police Commissionerate of the entire state.
The Police Commissioner, in view of the work of the Winners team, had decided to form another team. The second squad will be stationed to maintain the law by protecting women’s safety. The duo squad of winners team will ensure no woman is projected to crimes.
