Siliguri Metropolitan Police launch “Baaghini 1”

Siliguri, 11th December: With the initiative of enhancing courage, awareness and confidence in all the girls, Siliguri Metropolitan Police launched a new project “Baaghini 1” for training girls of 18 to 45 years of age in self-defence techniques, legal awareness and familiarisation with various police units. The first phase started on Saturday in Police Commissionerate Ground with a batch of 100 girls has been selected from 50 different organisations in Siliguri. The training will last for four days. 


In this context, Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma said that a new project ‘Baaghini’ has been started to strengthen women and girls. In this project, girls will be prepared to deal with every challenge that comes their way. In this training camp, apart from the self-defence techniques, legal awareness will also be given. The Commissioner further stated that today’s phase is the first chapter of this new project. Hence, they have named it ‘Baaghini-1’.

Speaking to the media, a student of Dr Rajendra Prasad Girls High School said that the project will help her become mentally and physically strong.
