Siliguri Mayor revealed possibilities of opening new bus stand after Durga Puja

Siliguri, 19th October: In a significant development, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb informed that the new bus stand of the city is anticipated to open following Durga Puja.


As per reports, to solve the arising traffic issues in Siliguri, the work for a new bus stand commenced at the NBSTC land near Tinbatti More a few months ago. Significantly, decisions were made to run all the private buses of the city from the new bus stand and complete the works before the Durga Puja. However, several problems arose.

Later, the state government and the railway department approached the court regarding the land around the entrance gate of the said bus stand. Subsequently, due to legal complications, the work of the bus stand was halted.


In this regard, the mayor stated that the bus stand would be opened after the puja if the land belonged to the state government. He added that, in circumstances of railway ownership, the administration would urge the railways to vacate the entrance of the bus stand.
