Siliguri, 16th December: On Saturday, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb held a meeting with the electricity department regarding underground cabling work. Notably, the Mayor has taken the initiative to transform Siliguri into a smart city, and reconstruction work is underway to remove electric wires and lay them underground.
Reportedly, the Mayor held a meeting with the electricity distribution department. After the meeting, the Mayor stated that this initiative has been undertaken for the beautification of the city and to prevent accidents. He added that in the first phase, the underground cable service will be started in a total of 17 Wards. Furthermore, he stated that discussions are on to formulate a process to undertake the developmental works without the disruption of normal electricity services.
