Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb takes stock of several wards to tackle dengue outbreak

Siliguri, 15th September: Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb took to the streets to make citizens aware of dengue and its preventive measures. The Mayor was accompanied by Darjeeling District Magistrate S. Ponnambalam, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar and councilors while he visited Ward No. 01, 02 and 03, on Thursday. 


During the inspection, bleaching powder and mosquito repellent oil were sprinkled in the drains of the wards. Leaflets were also distributed to the residents. Considering the outbreak of dengue as a serious matter, the administration has announced that if still water accumulated in any vacant land is found, then the owner will be instructed to clean it promptly. 

The Mayor assured that dengue infection will be controlled in the next 15 days. Also, cleaning work will be conducted at night to keep the city clean. “I would request everyone to avoid the accumulation of stagnant water near or around your house. Dengue will be controlled in 15 days if SMC will get the cooperation of the citizens,” he added.
