Siliguri, 14th November: A man was arrested by the Siliguri Metropolitan police for allegedly killing his wife and projecting the incident as a suicide. While the accused has been identified as Sameer Bhakta, the deceased has been identified is Sushmita Roy (19). Today, the accused was produced in the Jalpaiguri court.
It is reported that the dead body of Sushmita was found hanging from the noose inside the house. Based on the complaint lodged by her family members, Sameer Bhakta was arrested by the police on the night itself.
According to family sources of the deceased, Sushmita Roy and Sameer Bhakta, a resident of Sipahi Para, got married two and a half years ago and were living in rented a house in the Teen Batti More area. Allegedly, Sameer Bhakta often argued for dowry and also used to thrash Sushmita. The family of the deceased asserted that Sameer killed Sushmita.
