Siliguri, 21st June: Siliguri Mahakma Parishad election will be held on June 26. In view of this, today SDO Shrinivas Vyankatrao Patil and ACP Manish Yadav conducted a route march in the Panchayat area for security purposes.
The SDO inspected polling booths and various areas including Samar Nagar, Devidanga, and Milan More under the Champasari Panchayat area with the IC of Pradhan Nagar Police Station and a huge police force. The SDO also interacted with the people during the route march.
Reportedly, there are a total of 09 seats in the Siliguri Mahakama Parishad area, a total of 66 seats in Panchayat Samiti, and a total of 462 seats in Gram Panchayat. This year about 5 lakh 27 thousand 938 candidates are participating in the elections; out of which, 2,64,467 are male voters, 2,63,468, are female voters and 03 are from the third gender community. The total number of polling stations is 657 where five thousand polling personnel will be stationed.
