Siliguri Mahakama Parishad Election: Police Commissioner and District Magistrate inspected Sri Nara Singha Vidyapith School in Matigara

Siliguri, 18th June: Polling for the Siliguri Mahakama Parishad will be held on June 26. Therefore in view of this, Siliguri Metropolitan Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma and District Magistrate S Ponnambalam inspected the security system of Sri Nara Singha Vidyapith School in Matigara and the preparations of DC and RC centre.


After the inspection, the DM stated that the school has been selected as the centre for the Siliguri Mahakama Parishad, Panchayat, and Block elections. Arrangements have been made for installing tarpaulins in the school in case of rainfall. Apart from this, voting papers and EVM machines will be provided in plastic. He further added that there will be a total of 657 booths with five polling personnel in each booth. Hence, altogether five thousand polling personnel will be stationed in four blocks.

On the other hand, Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma stated that the city’s security system has been increased in view of the elections and extra surveillance will be executed against illegal smuggling of liquor, and money transactions during the period. Furthermore, Naka Checkings are also being conducted in the border areas. Criminal activities are being monitored by contacting the Jalpaiguri and Islampur administrations adjoining the Darjeeling district. “The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has completed all its preparations regarding the Siliguri Mahakama Parishad,” the Police Commissioner added.
