Siliguri lockdown: Massive crowd spotted in market areas, Police close two temporary markets

Siliguri, 26th July: While Siliguri is under a complete lockdown until next Wednesday, huge crowds were sighted in various market areas of Siliguri since Sunday morning. People were spotted buying commodities in the market without maintaining social distance.


Acting promptly, the Siliguri police launched operations and closed two temporary markets today.

Starting from NTS More till Tikiapara More a temporary market was set up on Sunday morning. Upon receiving the news, a large police force arrived at the scene and closed the market. Some were also detained.


Similarly, huge crowds were also spotted at the temporary market premises in Mahabirsthan. A police force led by the IC of Siliguri police station reached the spot and closed the market.

A youth was also arrested for disobeying lockdown protocols and opening his clothing store amid lockdown. The police officials intervened and reminded the traders regarding the ongoing lockdown in Siliguri.
