Siliguri, 17th May: The Siliguri Junction GRP has recovered 30 stolen and lost mobile phones and returned them to their rightful owners, reinforcing passenger trust and safety.
Among the recovered devices was a mobile phone belonging to a passenger from Rajasthan, which was stolen from a moving train in 2023. After sustained efforts and continuous investigation, the phone was successfully traced and returned three years later.
Based on complaints received over the past few months and years, the GRP team tracked down and recovered a total of 30 mobile phones. After completing necessary legal formalities, the devices were handed over to their respective owners.
During the drive, an awareness campaign led by Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Kumar Roy was also conducted, urging passengers to remain cautious about their belongings while travelling by train.
The GRP has assured that security measures at railway stations and on trains will be further strengthened to ensure better passenger safety.
