Siliguri ISKCON Temple Road in dilapidated condition leaves residents facing daily inconvenience

Siliguri, 26th May: ISKCON Temple Road in Siliguri has reportedly been in a severely deteriorated condition for a long time, causing major inconvenience to daily commuters.

Locals allege that the road is filled with large potholes in several stretches, while some portions remain waterlogged with stagnant dirty water, making travel difficult and unsafe.

Residents claim that despite repeatedly informing the local councillor, no permanent repair work has been undertaken. Temporary measures such as filling potholes with sand or gravel are reportedly carried out occasionally, but the condition worsens again within a few days.

The road is used by a large number of people daily, including school students, making the situation particularly risky. During the monsoon season, water accumulation in potholes increases the chances of accidents, with locals alleging that vehicles have even overturned at times.

In several areas, the condition is so poor that traffic has to move in a single lane alternately, leading to regular congestion and disorder. Locals have demanded immediate repair of the road, warning that continued neglect could lead to more serious accidents in the future.
