Siliguri hit by bomb terror on Independence Day, investigation underway

Siliguri, 15th August: On the 75th Independence Day of India, tension prevailed at NJP station premises over a suspicious object which was spotted at the station entrance.


Reportedly, a round object was spotted lying behind a tree at the entrance of the NJP station. RPF and GRP officials were immediately informed about the matter. Upon receiving the news, CID Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot shortly after and disposed of the suspicious object in a local empty field.

However, it is not yet clear whether the object was explosive or not. Samples have been collected by CID and the matter will be confirmed only after forensic test results. On the other hand, RPF’s Assistant Security Commissioner AG Farooq said that the object has been defused. CID has launched an investigation into the matter.
