Siliguri ‘Hit and Run’ case: Case handed over to Detective Department, investigation underway

Siliguri, 08th February: The investigation of the recent hit-and-run case at Siliguri’s Sevoke Road has been handed over to the Detective Department (DD), and a probe into the case is currently underway. Earlier, the case was being handled by the Bhaktinagar Police. However, for the past two days, the DD is investigating the case. Siliguri Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar handed over the investigation to the DD while citing the importance of the case.


It is to be noted that on the night of February 1, a speeding car recklessly driven on Siliguri’s Sevoke Road collided with two vehicles, and overturned while striking two people standing by the roadside. After the crash, three occupants of the automobile fled the scene. Upon learning of the collision, the police arrived on the scene and sent the injured to the nearest hospital. However, the injured businessman Mukesh Mittal succumbed to his injuries.

Later, the police arrested Dipu Giri, the accused driver, two days after the incident while the other individuals in the vehicle are yet to be identified. Currently, the DD is on a hunt for the other occupants of the car while investigating the entire incident.
