Siliguri, 30th July: Siliguri-based social worker Dipankar Manik Arora organised a voluntary blood donation camp, saree distribution programme and other social welfare activities at his residence in Haidarpara on Thursday to commemorate his late mother’s birth anniversary.
Around one-and-a-half years after losing his mother, Dipankar Manik Arora and his family initiated the programme to honour her memory and extend support to underprivileged mothers in society.
During the event, new sarees were handed over to more than 350 underprivileged women from Haidarpara and adjoining areas. Several voluntary blood donors also participated in the blood donation camp.
Local residents appreciated the initiative and praised the effort to support people in need. The organisers said similar humanitarian programmes will continue in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, Dipankar Manik Arora said, “This programme was organised with the aim of serving the mothers of society on my mother’s birth anniversary. It is a small effort to honour my memory by standing beside people. I wish to continue such social initiatives in the future.”
