Siliguri court punish man after 10 years from the offence

Siliguri, 14th July: In 2011, a dispute broke out between two parties regarding their business. Following which, a police case was filed at the Matigara police station. 10 years after the incident, the court sentenced the accused to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 today.


Reportedly, Mohammed Sheru owned a business of sand and stones. He got into a conflict with Mohammed Kalo over the business. Mohammad Kalo attacked Mohammad Sheru with a sledgehammer and rod. Mohammed Sheru was admitted to a nursing home in Matigara with a head injury.

A complaint was lodged in this regard on April 30, 2011, at Matigara police station. The accused Mohammed Kalo later surrendered in court. He had been on bail for all these years. On July 12, the court declared him guilty.


On Wednesday, Siliguri ACJM, 2nd Court Judge Nilanjana Chatterjee sentenced him to 1-year rigorous imprisonment. Government lawyer Dilip Roy said that out of the fine of Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 has been asked to be paid to the family of the complainant and Rs 25,000 to the court.
