Siliguri, 19th May: A 65-year-old elderly man was arrested for sexually harassing a 12-year-old girl. The accused has been identified as Jharlal Sarkar of Madani Bazar area in New Jalpaiguri.
Reportedly, on Wednesday, he took the minor girl to his house by luring her with food and tried to sexually assault her. When the matter came to light, the family of the victim lodged a complaint at the New Jalpaiguri police station. As per the local residents, Jharlal Sarkar has been charged for molesting a teen in the past as well and was even punished by the locals.
NJP Police have initiated an investigation into the whole matter. A case under the POCSO Act has been registered against the accused and was presented in the Jalpaiguri court today.
