Sikkim reports its COVID-19 positive case

Sikkim, India’s only COVID-free state up until now, has reported its first positive case, on Saturday.
During a press conference, Health Director General Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, on Saturday afternoon, stated that after the 25-year-old showed symptoms for the novel coronavirus, his swab was collected and sent to North Bengal Medical College-Hospital in Siliguri which came back positive today.


The person was kept at a government quarantine center at Ravangla in South Sikkim after he returned from Delhi on May 19.

As per the information, 11 other returnees are also staying in the same quarantine center. Reportedly, they will be tested too along with all the other passengers who had travelled with the patient. Meanwhile the administration is also trying to trace the ones who had come in contact with him.
