Jalpaiguri, 31st August: Seven shops were destroyed in a major fire that broke out in the TB Hospital Para of Jalpaiguri. The incident created a stir in the entire area.
According to sources, the locals spotted the fire early Tuesday morning. Following this, the fire department and police were informed. Upon receiving the news, two fire engines rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. However, all valuables inside the shops were burnt to ashes before the fire was extinguished.
Police and firefighters assumed that the fire broke out due to a short circuit.
