Sculptor accused of duping client of Rs 10 lakh, Bhaktinagar police jumps into action

Siliguri, 12th September: The Bhaktinagar police arrested a sculptor for allegedly duping a man of Rs 10 lakh. The accused, Samiran Bagh of Krishna Nagar-Nadia, was arrested and brought to Siliguri last evening.


According to the information, Dr Shiv Shankar Shastri, who resides in an apartment under the Bhaktinagar police station area, had lodged a case of fraud of Rs 10 lakh against Samiran Bagh at Bhaktinagar police station. 


As per the allegations, the client Dr Shiv Shankar Shastri had given an order to prepare idols of Hindu god Krishna and several others depicting scenes from the Hindu epic of Mahabharta. He even provided the required raw materials including precious stones. The order was finalized for Rs 10 lakh. 

However, the idols delivered to the client was made of ordinary stone and they eventually started to break. Following his complaint lodged at the Bhaktinagar police station, sculptor Samiran Bagh was arrested. An investigation has been initiated into this matter.
