Siliguri, 26th May: An alleged incident of inappropriate behaviour involving two schoolgirls has surfaced from the SF Road area of Siliguri, raising concerns over safety and law and order in the city.
According to reports, the two students were waiting for their school bus on Tuesday morning when a man allegedly approached them and behaved inappropriately. He is accused of trying to pull one of the girls by holding her hand.
The frightened students later went to school and informed their family members after returning home, triggering concern in the locality.
Following the complaint, police from Khalpara Outpost reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police are currently searching for the accused based on the description provided by the students. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being examined to identify and arrest the suspect at the earliest.
Local residents have expressed concern over the safety of women and school students and demanded stronger security arrangements and increased police patrolling in the area.
Police said investigation into the incident is ongoing and efforts are underway to trace the accused.
