“Say No to Drugs” campaign impact: Drugs worth crores seized in a year, 91 drug dealers arrested

Siliguri, 31 December: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has achieved a significant milestone in its ongoing “Say No to Drugs” campaign, and seized drugs worth crores and about Rs 60 lakhs in cash within a year. Significantly, about ninety-one big and small drug dealers have been put behind bars.


According to reports, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police presented a detailed report of the action taken during the last year under the anti-drug campaign. The report demonstrated a collaborative effort of the Detective Department (DD) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of six police stations sorting 47 drug cases registered from January 1st to December 31st.

Reports indicate that the authorities confiscated drugs worth crores of rupees and cash worth Rs 59 lakh 61 thousand 760. In the meantime, 24 kg 298 grams of brown sugar, 299 kg of cannabis, 11 thousand 250 pieces of banned cough syrup, 9 thousand 640 pieces of intoxicating injection, and 1015 pieces of syringes have been recovered. Additionally, ninety-one drug peddlers have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
