Darjeeling, 27th April: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (Binay faction) General Secretary and former GTA Chairman Anit Thapa urged all the people residing in Darjeeling hills to "stay safe" amid the ongoing second wave of the fatal COVID-19. The appeal comes after the hills has recorded numerous positive cases and casualties too.
Taking to his social media page, Thapa wrote:
"Corona doesn't discriminate people on the basis of caste, creed, colour and gender.
What does Corona look for? It's the human body. If it doesn't get a human body it dies its own death.
What can we do?
Darjeeling hills exists therefore you and I exist. If our hills is endangered then our own existence will be in trouble. I feel and think that our first priority should be to save Hills first. To save Hills You and I have to live first. Otherwise without you and me our hills will remain a mere hill without soul. Therefore I urge every lover of the hills
Save yourself, Save the Hills
If we live, the hills will be saved. Let's save ourselves, the hills will be saved automatically."
