Alipurduar, 18th April: Satellite phones have been provided to the polling personnel to overcome mobile network issues in remote centers of Buxa Hills in Alipurduar. Additionally, ‘water proof bags’ have also been provided to the polling staff. The Election Commission has provided these materials at three booths in Buxa under Alipurduar Lok Sabha constituency.
Reportedly, the polling booths on Buxa Hill can only be accessed by foot, on a path comprising hilly terrains, with mobile communication yet to be set up. The satellite phones have been provided for constant communication and information. Additionally, ‘water proof bag’ has been provided for safety of EVMs.
