Naxalbari, 24th January: A sand-laden truck met with an accident on the Asian Highway.
It is learned that a sand-laden truck fell into a roadside ditch at Hatighisa in Naxalbari while on its way to Durgapur from Guwahati. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
The driver of the vehicle, Premlal, said that the accident took place while the consignment was being transported from Birpara. However, questions are being raised whether the sand was being smuggled illegally or not. Police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
