Road accident in Rajganj injures four students

Rajganj, 15th March: Four students of a primary school were injured in an accident that took place in the Panikauri area of ​​Rajganj block, on Tuesday.


As per the information, several vehicles ply through the Rajganj bazaar area to evade toll tax situated between Panikauri and Fatapukur on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway.

On Tuesday morning, a four-wheeler small passenger vehicle heading towards Jalpaiguri rammed into a motorcycle at School Para in Rajganj while traveling through the said route. The motorcycle lost control and hit 4 students who were passing through the area. The students sustained slight injuries. After the accident, the locals stopped the car and started protesting. Upon receiving the news, the Rajganj police reached the slot shortly after, detained the vehicle, and took it to the police station.


Munna Das, the father of one of the injured students, said, “The accident happened when my daughter and her three classmates were walking home from school.”

In this context, the locals said that apart from small cars, big vehicles also use this route to evade toll tax. As a result, accidents happen frequent. As nursery schools, primary schools, two high schools, and colleges are situated on this road, they demanded to stop the movement of such vehicles on this road immediately.

Rajganj Police Station Traffic OC Atul Chandra Das said barricades have been set up on the road in front of the school. Monitoring will be done to ensure no external vehicles enter the route.
