Siliguri, 21st July: Siliguri Metropolitan Police’s 24-hour tourist helpline has helped a tourist from Kolkata recover ₹997 after he lodged a complaint regarding a hotel booking issue.
According to information, Kolkata resident Pritam Joradar had booked a hotel online and paid an advance amount. However, after reaching Siliguri, he allegedly did not get a room at the hotel. When he asked for a refund, the hotel management refused to return the money.
Following this, Pritam lodged a complaint through the tourist helpline. After receiving the complaint, an investigation was immediately initiated under the leadership of Panitanki Traffic Guard OC Swapan Roy.
Police contacted the hotel authorities and managed to get the full amount of ₹997 refunded to the tourist within two hours.
The tourist helpline was launched under the leadership of Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza with the aim of providing quick assistance to visitors. Within a week of its launch, the service has started showing positive results.
After receiving the refund, Pritam Joradar thanked Siliguri Metropolitan Police for their prompt action. The helpline is emerging as a support system for tourists visiting North Bengal.
