Siliguri, 21st July: The road stretch leading to Fulbari Mahananda Barrage has deteriorated significantly, causing inconvenience to daily commuters, vehicle drivers and local residents.
Thousands of vehicles travel through this route every day, but the damaged condition of the road has made commuting challenging. Residents have raised concerns over the growing risk of accidents, with several minor and major incidents reportedly occurring.
Locals alleged that despite repeated demands for repair work, no effective initiative has been taken so far. They said waterlogging in potholes makes it difficult to identify damaged areas of the road, creating greater risks for motorcycle and scooty riders.
The route is also frequently used by goods carriers and heavy vehicles. Drivers claimed that the damaged road is causing vehicle damage, increasing maintenance expenses and delaying travel.
Residents and drivers have demanded immediate repair work on the road to ensure safer and smoother movement.
