Rise in water level of Torsha River in Cooch Behar, yellow alert continues

Cooch Behar, 18th June: The water level of the Torsha River has crossed the danger mark due to heavy rainfall causing floods in the adjoining area of Cooch Behar including Phansi Ghat, and Takagachh area. The Irrigation Department has already issued yellow alert in the Tufanganj Raidak River. 


People are leaving their residences and taking shelter on the embankments to save their lives. Reportedly the incessant downpour and the water gushing down from Bhutan are increasing the water level of Torsha River. According to sources, the water level of the river will likely increase in the coming days as well.
