Rajganj, 09th July: Overnight rainfall left the Birban Daspara area under Binnaguri Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block waterlogged, causing severe hardship for local residents.
Water entered several houses, inundating kitchens and bedrooms and disrupting daily life. Residents said they are struggling to carry out routine activities, with families facing particular difficulties in caring for children and elderly members.
Residents alleged that the area faces the same problem every monsoon due to the lack of a proper drainage system. They said rainwater enters their homes, affecting cooking, sleeping and other daily activities.
An ICDS centre in the area was also affected, with rainwater entering the building and damaging rice and other cooking materials. As a result, services for children and mothers have reportedly been disrupted.
Locals demanded the immediate construction of a permanent drainage system, alleging that the absence of proper water drainage causes the area to become waterlogged even after moderate rainfall.
