Rajganj, 13th June: The Pradhans of two Gram Panchayats and one Upa Pradhan resigned from their posts on Monday.
Sukhani Gram Panchayat Pradhan Parimal Roy, Upa Pradhan Israel Haque, and Majhiali Gram Panchayat Pradhan Sumit Dutta submitted their resignation letters at the office of the Rajganj Block Development Officer (BDO).
All three cited personal reasons behind their decision. They stated that although they wanted to continue working for the people and provide services, personal issues and health problems had made it difficult for them to carry out their responsibilities, leading them to step down.
It may be noted that in the 2023 Panchayat elections, Trinamool Congress won 18 out of 21 seats in Sukhani Gram Panchayat, while BJP secured three seats.
In Majhiali Gram Panchayat, TMC holds 12 out of 19 seats, BJP has six seats, and CPI(M) has one seat.
Following the simultaneous resignation of the three Panchayat office-bearers, political discussions have started in the area.
