Rajganj, 10th October: Forty five temporary workers are employed under the state’s Ambari Falakata Resham Prakalpa. However, the workers have been deprived of salary for the last 6 months. Around 200 workers used to work on about 70 acres of land but now there are only a handful of workers.
Labourer Abu Syed Chowdhury said that they have been working for about 12 years. They are paid on the basis of 100-day work. However, they are deprived of salary since April.
Another worker, Atasi Chakraborty, said that despite informing the matter to Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy and Trinamool Jalpaiguri district president Mahua Gop, no solution was provided.
In this regard, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy assured that he will go to Kolkata and inform the minister of the concerned department after the puja.
