Railway department conducts demolition drive to remove illegal encroachments in Siliguri

Siliguri, 17th December: The railway department conducted a demolition drive to remove illegal encroachments in government lands. In this situation, the NJP branch of Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC) extended a helping hand to the helpless residents.


It has been learned that several shops and houses have sprung up illegally on the railway land on the road adjacent to NJP DS colony. The railway department launched campaigns on Friday to remove these illegal constructions.


The shops and houses were demolished this morning. As a result, the residents of the area are currently in a helpless situation. A memorandum was issued on behalf of INTTUC to the railway officials demanding their rehabilitation.
