Siliguri, 09th January: Rabindra Nath Ghosh, North Bengal Development Department held a meeting in Uttar Kanya today to discuss on the preparation for the upcoming North Bengal Festival.
SJDA Chairman Vijay Chandra Barman, MP Shanta Chhetri and District Magistrates, Superintendent of Police and Information & Cultural Officer of 8 districts in North Bengal were present in the meeting. After the meeting, the North Bengal Development Department said that the festival will be held in every district sadar and tribal areas of each district.
As per the information, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, drawing competition will not be held in the said festival. Events will be organized with local artists rather than outsiders. 9 eminent persons from 8 districts will be conferred the Banga Ratna Award. The opening ceremony of the North Bengal Festival will take place in Siliguri.
