Rabindra jayanti celebrated on low key due to COVID-19 sevond wave

Siliguri,09th May: In view of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the 160th birth anniversary of Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated on low key. Like last year, no big celebrations and gatherings were allowed in the city.


On Sunday morning, a small ceremony was held at Rabindra Mancha in Baghajatin Park on behalf of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. BoA members and SMC officials were present during the programme. Newly appointed administrator Goutam Deb and members of the Administrative Council paid homage to the poet. The ceremony was then concluded through a few songs.

Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh also paid homage to the statue of Rabindranath Tagore.
