Rabha community rallied in Alipurduar demanding ‘Separate Development Board’

Alipurduar, 11th March: The members of the Rabha community of Dooars took to the streets ahead of the Lok Sabha elections issuing a stern warning to the state government. Significantly, the Rabha leadership emphasized the urgent need for a separate development board for their community and threatened massive agitation if their demands were not met promptly.


According to reports, on Monday, a rally was undertaken by the Nikhil Rabha Chhatra Sanstha and Nikhil Rabha Mahila Parishad. The rally circumambulated various areas in Alipurduar before staging a protest in front of the district administration building, Dooars Kanya.

In this regard, Ruben Rabha, a prominent Rabha leader, highlighted the prolonged deprivation of benefits by the state government. He added that for five years the Tribal Development and Culture Board has not provided any support to the Rabha community. Furthermore, He emphasized the immediate necessity of a separate development board for the Rabha community and warned of widespread agitation if their grievances remained unaddressed.
