Puja guidelines issued by Darjeeling Police for Durga Puja

Darjeeling, 13th October: A meeting of Durga Puja Co-ordination was held today on behalf of Darjeeling Police for the upcoming festival. GTA Chairman Anit Thapa and Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Chhetri were present during the meeting along with the representatives of Durga Puja Organizing Committee of hills and plains.


The police issued guidelines to be followed by all the Puja committees in the hills and plains, especially keeping the current COVID-19 pandemic in mind. Apart from this, 10 committees were given Rs 50,000 each for the preparation of the upcoming puja on behalf of the state government. Reportedly, other puja committees will also be provided with the fund in the future.

A total of 187 pujas are being organized in Darjeeling district this year. As per the administration, the entry and exit of Durga Puja pandals shall have to be spacious with separate Entry and Exit arrangements, use of masks shall be compulsory for all and availability of hand sanitizes should be made compulsory in the pandal premises. Cultural programmes in/near the Puja pandal premises will not be allowed.
