Siliguri, 28th August: Siliguri resident Samar Mondal, a businessman who went missing during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, remains untraced. On Friday, State Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh visited his residence in Shanti Nagar and met his family members.
Mondal’s wife and father broke down in tears during the meeting. The minister spoke to the family and gathered detailed information about when they last established contact with Samar.
According to the family, Samar was at the immigration centre along the Tibet-Nepal border on the morning of the flash flood incident. He spoke to his family over the phone from there, after which they were unable to establish any further contact with him.
The incident has left the family deeply concerned and anxious. During his visit, Shankar Ghosh also discussed the matter with administrative officials.
The Tourism Minister said no information regarding Samar’s whereabouts has been received so far. He said the administration is monitoring the situation in the concerned area and continuing necessary communication and efforts to trace him.
Shankar Ghosh assured the family that they would be informed immediately if any new information regarding Samar Mondal is received.
