Siliguri, 26th July: A protest demonstration was held in front of the Baghajatin Park in Siliguri to express solidarity with the student protest that was held in Delhi. A large number of students and youths gathered at the venue from the morning to participate in the protest.
According to the protesters, the demonstration was organized to support the recently concluded students’ agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, mourn the deaths of NEET students, demand justice for the victims, and oppose the filing of alleged false cases and the arrest of protesters.
Dr. Shahriar Alam, who was present at the event, alleged that several students participating in the movement had been booked under false cases, with many being arrested and jailed. He said such actions reflected a politics of repression and intimidation that has no place in a democratic society.
He also demanded the immediate withdrawal of all cases that the protesters described as false and called for the release of the detained students.
