Private buses refuse to provide service, passengers face inconvenience at Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus

Siliguri, 01st July: Bus services have started from Thursday as per the new guidelines set by the state. The Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus in Siliguri was crowded with passengers since this morning. However, most of them faced trouble due to the unavailability of private buses.

The state government has allowed all private buses to operate only if they carry 50 percent of the total capacity. According to the private bus organizations, due to the increasing fuel price, it is not possible for them to provide transport services without increasing the passenger fare. Hence, no private buses were spotted on Thursday.

Passengers stood in long queues at the terminus’ ticket booking counter, since this morning for NBSTC buses. Meanwhile, cabs and taxis drivers are facing trouble due to a handful of passengers.
