Pradhan Nagar police rescue missing 14-year old boy from Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir

Siliguri, 09th July: A 14-year old boy, who ran away from his house after being scolded by his mother, was successfully rescued from Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir by a special team of Siliguri’s Pradhan Nagar police.


According to police sources, the boy went missing on May 31 and his family lodged a complaint at the Pradhan Nagar Police Station on June 08.

Amid the investigation, the minor’s mother updated the police that her son had called from Baramulla and informed them about his whereabouts. Following this, a special team of police was formed under the leadership of IC of Pradhan Nagar Police Station Shubhashis Chaki. The team left Siliguri for Jammu and Kashmir on June 21 and reached Baramulla after contacting Naugaon Police in Srinagar. The minor was finally rescued from an ice factory with the help of the local police. Then on July 05, the police team returned to Siliguri with the minor boy.


On July 07, the minor was presented at the Child Welfare Committee in Darjeeling. The committee issued an order to return him to his family.

On the other hand, the minor said that he left the house after being scolded by his mother. He boarded a train from NJP station for Rangiya, Assam to visit his father. He met a stranger in Rangiya, who took him to Gulshan Nagar in Srinagar on the pretext of giving him a job. He stayed at the house of a retired policeman for some time. A few days later, he went to work in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir with the local youths.

ACP West Chandan Das said that the minor had been missing since May. After a complaint was lodged on behalf of the minor’s family, the boy was rescued from Jammu and Kashmir.
