Polio will be given to children at home, not at the centre: Shankar Ghosh

Siliguri, 12th September: With an aim to make the city Polio-Free, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation will be observing Polio Day on September 20, 21 and 22. However, keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic, the SMC has made the arrangements to provide polio drops to children at home rather than in centres.

During a press conference today, Shankar Ghosh, Urban Health, Mother & Child Care- Member of SMC Board of Administration, stated that the SMC will observe September 20, 21 and 22 as Polio Day to make the city Polio-Free.

He further maintained that this time, the children will be given the polio drops at home. With this, 60 transit points will also be set up in the city where parents of the children who did not receive polio at home can bring their children to get the drops at the transit point.
