Police take stern action against lockdown violators in Siliguri

Siliguri, 18th April: During a press conference at the State Secretariat Nabanna yesterday, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that since Siliguri is situated in the border area, people should follow the lockdown protocols properly, failing which strict legal action will be taken.


Following the announcement, the Siliguri Police, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Kunwar Bhushan Singh, launched operations in Siliguri’s Pradhan Nagar, Champasari More, Regulated Market and Junction area since early morning and arrested more than 100 violators. 

Besides, a team of police personnel conducted a Naka checking in the Siliguri Hashmi Chowk area and detained several vehicles. Several people were also fined for not obeying traffic rules.


According to police sources, such operations will continue regularly during the entire lockdown period.
