Rajganj, 16th January: A tragic incident surfaced where a police officer lost his life in a road accident in Jalpaiguri. The deceased policeman has been identified as Karuna Kanta Roy, a resident of Totaigachh village of Rajganj. The officer was currently posted as Sub-Inspector (SI) in the monitoring cell in Jalpaiguri.
Notably, Karuna Kant Roy served in the police department for about 25 years. The incident led to an atmosphere of mourning. The officer was living with his family in Jalpaiguri and was survived by his wife and two daughters.
According to reports, at around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the officer’s bike collided with a road divider in Jalpaiguri’s Hakim Para area. After the accident, he was transported to the hospital in critical condition where the doctors declared him dead.
Sources revealed that the officer was traveling to the Sadar Police Department on a bike in the morning to rehearse for the parade given the upcoming Republic Day. During this, he met with an accident due to dense fog.
