Poacher arrested for dauntlessly selling meat of wild animals in Siliguri market

Siliguri, 08th November: Raw meat of wild animals was dauntlessly being sold in various places including markets in Siliguri. The Forest Department of Dabgram range under Baikunthapur division arrested a poacher in this regard.
According to forest department sources, they received a tip-off about the illegal selling of wild animals’ meat in various places including the market. After this, they further investigated the matter. This morning a team of 13 people from the forest department conducted an operation in different areas of Baikunthapur division and the forest personnel arrested a poacher who has been identified as Krishna Kumar Chhetri, a resident of Nepali Basti. 
Along with busting the illegal trade of meat, forest personnel also recovered a gun, two bow arrows, two khukris, including a peacock and tortoise skin from his possession. In this regard, the ADFO of Baikunthapur Division Jayanta Mandal said that they had received a tip-off about the trade. Accordingly, they launched a campaign and arrested the alleged poacher. 
At the same time, Dabgram Ranger Shyamaprasad Chakladar said that a team of 13 people launched an operation and arrested the accused. Along with this, various weapons used for hunting were also recovered. Investigations have been started into the matter. The accused has been produced in Jalpaiguri court today.
