Bagdogra, 26th July: A ginger and wood-laden pickup van crashed in Hanskhoa’s Tuna More area of Bagdogra due to heavy downpour. Reportedly the van was heading towards Ghoshpukur from Siliguri.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, the forest personnel reached the spot and recovered the woods and ginger. According to sources, the timber was being smuggled however due to rain, the pickup van lost control and crashed. Meanwhile, the alleged smugglers fled from the spot and abandoned the vehicle.
Bagdogra police took the pickup van in possession. A total of 80 CFT wood has been recovered. The forest department and police are investigating the entire incident.
